MongoDB Compass is The GUI for MongoDB, used for Database Management Tools . Compass is a free interactive tool for querying, optimizing, and analyzing your MongoDB data. Get key insights, drag and drop to build pipelines, and more.

Prepare​

When referring to this document to use MongoDB Compass, please read and ensure the following points:

  • Login to Websoft9 Console and find or install MongoDB Compass:

    • Go to My Apps listing applications
    • Go to App Store installing target application

  • This application is installed by Websoft9 console.

  • The purpose of this application complies with the SSPL-v1 open source license agreement.

  • Configure the domain name or server security group opens external network ports for application access.

Getting started​

Initial setup​

  1. When completing the installation of MongoDB Compass in the Websoft9 Console, get the applicaiton's Overview and Access information from My Apps.

  2. Input your username and password to log in to the desktop environment.

  3. Click the MongoDB Compass icon on the desktop to open MongoDB Compass.

  4. Select New Connection > Advanced Connection Options, enter the connection information and your account details.

    Note: The URI method is not recommended due to its limitations with string format.

  5. Once the connection is successful, you will enter the console.

Does MongoDB Compass consume a lot of memory?​

Yes, MongoDB Compass is not a true web application; it is built by Websoft9 as a special container that includes the desktop environment.
